  offramp: Asztalos rejected
24.Qxh8+ Ke7 25.Qxb8 because of 25...Qxc2+.

But he could have played 24.Qxh8+ Ke7 25.Rd7+ Qxd7 26.Qxb8 and won straight away!

Apr-08-05  Boomie: <offramp> Black can take the rook on d7 with the King. However after 24. ♕xh8+ ♔e7 25. ♖d7+ ♔xd7 white can play 26. ♕d4+ ♔e7 27. cxb3 and remain a pawn ahead.

offramp: After 25...Kxd7, 26.Ne5+ looks better.
Apr-08-05  Boomie: Oops...missed that one. Good find.

Honza Cervenka: It is hard to believe that AAA survived in this game. For example, after quite obvious 26.Nd4 with intention (after any move of the Queen, 26...Ne4 is bad for simple 27.Qe5 attacking Qc6, Rb8 and Ne4 at once) to play Nxe6 is just crushing. But even after white's soft continuation with extra Pawn black was still objectively lost to the moment when white allowed black to create dangerous passed Pawn in the centre, which forced white to go for repetition of the position. Lucky escape from the defeat for Alekhine.
