  plang: 4 Nf3 (instead of 4 d4) is typical of one of Adam's Sicilian sidelines that he plays to avoid theory. 9 0-0 was new; 9 b3 was played previously. Adams was critical of 12..f6? recommending 12..Bc7 13 Qe2..Qe7 with a small advantage for White. I wonder if 13..Bd7 would have been better giving Black a chance to castle. 15..exd would have been answered by 16 Nxc4..Nxc4 17 Qe6+..Kf8 18 Qxc4..dxc 19 bxc with a powerful attack for White. If 19..Bxe1 20 Nd6+..Kf8 21 Bxe6..fxe 22 Nxe8 with a winning advantage. Answering Adam's queen sacrifice with 23..Qb8 would have been answered by 24 Rd7+ and (a) 24..Kg6 25 Bf7+..Kf5 26 Ng3+..Kxe5 27 f4# or (b) 24..Kf8 25 Rf7+..Kg8 26 Bh6 and wins.
Jun-29-24  mel gibson: I chose 22. Bxd5

Stockfish 16.1 says:

22. Bxd5

(22. Bxd5 (1.Bxd5 Bxd5 2.Nxf6+ gxf6 3.exf6 Qxf6 4.Qxd5+ Qf7 5.Qg5+ Qg7 6.Qf4 Bf8 7.Be3 Qf7 8.Qg5+ Bg7 9.b3 Re5 10.Rd8+ Rxd8 11.Qxd8+ Re8 12.Rd1 a6 13.h3 Qe6 14.Qg5 b5 ) +5.07/48 295)

score for White +5.07 depth 48.

if I force SF to play the game ply it's the same strength:

22. Qxf7+ Kxf7

(22. .. Kxf7 (1. ... Kxf7 2.Rxd5 Kg6 3.Rxd8 Raxd8 4.g4 f5 5.gxf5+ Kxf5 6.Ng3+ Kxe5 7.Bg5 Rd3 8.Rc1 Rxb3 9.axb3 Kd6 10.Kf1 Kd7 11.Bf4 Rc8 12.Rc4 a5 13.Rxc8 Kxc8 14.Ke2 Kd7 ) -4.83/44 292)

score for Black -4.83 depth 44.

Jun-30-24  King.Arthur.Brazil: The king saw the line: 22. Nxf6+ (Nxf6 23. Qxf7+23. Qxf7+ Kh8 24. Rxd8 Raxd8 25. Bf4 with huge material), 23. Qg4+ Kh8 Now, W has several moves. 24. Bh6 Bf8 25. Bxf8 Rxf8 26. e6 Bg8 27. Rxd5... recover with attack. Other possibility is: 22. Bxd5 Bxd5 23. Nxf6+ gxf6 24. Qg4+ Kh8 25. Qxb4 Rxe5 26. Bf4... I'm really low battery today.
Jun-30-24  King.Arthur.Brazil: I saw this line, with the reply: 23...Qxd5 24. Bxd5+ Kf8 and now the threat of Rad8 seemed unpleasant to me.

An Englishman: Good Evening: Flubbed 3 (including this one), solved 7, looking forward to Monday.
Jul-02-24  Mayankk: Nice complicated looking position. But once you see that after the forced sequence of 22 Qxf7+ Kxf7 23 Rxd5 Qxd5 (Queen can't escape as the Rook will follow her with a discovered check) 24 Bxd5+, White is up B+ N + P versus R, the puzzle seems solved.

After that it is probably more a matter of technique.
