Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-17-03  Ashley: Anand defeated Karpov at Wijk aan Zee. He has done well against the former world champion, however Anand never really played against Karpov in his best years.
Jan-17-03  drukenknight: what about 37 Nxf5 Bxf5 38 Qd5+ Bd6 39 Qxh5? the time control might give black only a few minutes to think about it.
Jan-17-03  pawntificator: After Nxf5 Bxf5 Qd5+ black could play Kg6 and hang on to the piece and the pawn.
Dec-22-10  thathwamasi: I guess this is the game that Maurice referred to, where Anand went to Chinese after winning it using very less time.
Jul-01-11  Shams: White has to kill himself immediately after Black's elegant <45...Bd1!>

...but is it "true" zugzwang? Or does <46. Pass c4> win for black?

Nov-01-16  Howard: The most recent issue of Chess Life (just came yesterday in the mail) has some interesting updated analysis of the ending in this game.

Among other things, it states that the previously-praised 35...Bf3? was actually a mistake---Karpov had a tricky drawing method as a result of this error, but he missed it.
