Mateo: A game showing the hidden power of a hedgehog structure. Black as lesser space but White has to take care of the possible breaks b6-b5 or d6-d5. Just what happened in the game after the well-timed 30...d5! giving Black some pressure. Ligterink missed 31.cxd5 exd5 (although the pinn on the c file is a bit uncomfortable for White).

But the losing move was played later. It was 34.Qxc4? (instead of 34.bxc4). The Knight ending is lost. White cannot impede either the Black King either the Black Knight to invade the queen side. For instance, if 36.Nb2 Ke7 37.Nd3 Kd6 38.Kg2 Ne4, Black wins too. The Knight goes to c3.

At the end there are many way to win but the swedish Capablanca choses the more cruel one. Zugswang is coming soon.
