Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-25-08  Knight13: Blackburne sacrifices 2 pawns to get his rooks down on the seventh rank! After that, Bird is roasted.
Dec-01-08  YoungEd: You're right, <Knight13>. The opening is interesting, because Black seems to achieve White's basic goal as well as White does! A Q-side fianchetto against Bird's Opening seems pretty sensible. A side point: I don't like 11. Bd4 because the c5 push turns out to be useful for Black anyway.
May-01-17  sneaky pete: Position after 32... Raa2

In the tournament book Schallopp first rejects the pawn sacrifice 33.d5 .. as "not healthy", then claims the alternative 33.f5 is no better. He gives the line 33.f5 exf5 34.Qb3+ Kf8 35.exf5 .. (threat Ng6+ ..) 35... Rxg2+ 36.Kh1 Rxh2+ 37.Kg1 Rag2+ 38.Kf1 Rf2+ 39.Kg1 Rhg2+ 40.Kh1 Nh5! (exclamation mark Schallopp)

Now if 41.Ng6+? hxg6 42.Rxe7 Ng3#, but 41.Nd7+ Qxd7 42.Re8+ Qxe8 43.Rxe8+ Kxe8 44.Qg8+ ..

looks like perpetual check to me.
