wwall: Instead of 51...Rd7 (now allowing 52.f5), perhaps better is 51...f5 52.gxf5 gxf5 and 53...f4.

Instead of 53.exf5, quicker may have been 53.Rfc3 Ke8 (53...Ke7 54.Rc8 Rfd8 55.exf5 gxf5 56.g6 hxg6 57 h7 wins) 54.Rc8+ Rd8 55.R8c7 Rd7 56.e5 dxe5+ 57.Kxe5.

On 51...f5, wouldn't White play <52. exf5> gxf5 53. g5, similar to the actual game?

wwall: 51.Rc2 f5 (51...Rd7?) 52.exf5 (that does look better than 52...gxf5) 52...gxf5 53.g5 and White should also win here. Black could try 53...Rg8, but White gets in with 54.Rfc3 as in the game. After 54...Rxg5 55.Rc8+ Ke7 56.Re2+ Kd7 57.Rb8 Kc7 58.Ree8 looks strong. White must now avoid perpetual check after 58...Rg4+.
Feb-27-18  Granny O Doul: Either 12..Bh3 or 13..Nd7 would run into a quite annoying Nd5. I'm not sure how important Black's apparent time loss was but sometimes it doesn't take much.
