Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-16-03  Corben: Chigorin really had plenty of guts. And an Alekhine-type calculation... His position is demolished but he knows he has the last card.
Jun-16-03  kevin86: The condemned man ate a happy meal.
Aug-10-05  gambitfan: 5. Nc3 completely refutes 4. ... Bc5 ?! isn't it ?
Apr-12-10  AnalyzeThis: Apparently, white is better after 5. Nc3, but there would be a lot of chess left to be played.
Nov-21-10  meppi: also 5 d4 is good against 4Bc5.

black wouldnt capture with the bishop because the horse would just capture it, so after exd5. white can castle and attack the black king along the open e file

wwall: 5.Bxc6 looks like a new move. Better may be 5.O-O or 5.Qe2.

Instead of 6...Bxf5, Black could have played 6...Bxf2+ 7.Kxf2 Qd4+ 8.Kf1 Qxe5 with a good game.

8.Nxg6 is no good. White should try 8.Qe2 (threatening 9.Nxc6) 8...Qe7 9.c3 and 10.d4 for a good game. In the game, 9.Qxh8 loses. Perhaps best is 9.Qe2+ Kf7 10.d3.
