  tpstar: Chigorin recommends 8. Bd3 Bc5 (over 8 ... h6 9. Ne4 Nd5), with active piece play plus Pawns dominating the center. Note 13 ... Bc7 defending the Pe5, then 14 ... f5, and Black never kicked the Ng5 with ... h6. White played 33. Ne3!? due to 33 ... Qh4 & 34 ... Qh3+ with a deadly discovered check after 35. Kf1. If 44. Rxd2 Rxd2 45. Rxd2 Qf3+ 46. Kg1 Qe3+, or 46. Rg2 Rd1+.
Jul-20-20  Ziryab: I believe this game was the first with 8.Bd3, which today is considered the main line.
