Aug-11-04  InspiredByMorphy: The fireworks begin on move 22! Its hard to determine which side has an advantage. It almost looks as if white is going to win, but black holds on for dear life and pulls out of it with 27. ... Qb4+

Enough word games. I answered my own question: Active Development, Checks, Captures, Threats, Exposed Kings, Queens on an open board, connected pawns, Poisoned Pawns, Passed Pawns, penetrating pieces, and the next move is DANGEROUS.

Ah, this game was played all over the board with uncastled kings and broken pawn structures, so it does have an edgy feel to it. Stockfish recommends 22.Qxe5 and we're headed for equality, but don't you believe it!! There's got to be a zwischenzug somewhere there, no? Yes, more than a bit puzzling ala Sam Lloyd. https://www.amazon.com/Sam-Loyds-Be...

It drives me NUTS not to castle and connect my rooks! I've got to pile up on some poor pawn somewhere and make Johny race over and sit there to guard it. This game is driving me CRAZY! Just how many pawns did White give away??

Here's a long US Chess podcast interview w/The FED! He has an engaging personality. The older folks (Bobby Fischer era) who recognize the chess personalities of the 1970s and '80s that JF discusses will probably appreciate this podcast more: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?... He mentions an opponent named Roman "Dzindzi" Dzindzichashvili, the guy who made several "Roman's Lab" chess videos.
