Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-21-09  M.D. Wilson: Stein's only win against Geller. 39. Bxd5 is a mistake. 34. Qb6 seems wasteful.
Sep-15-15  jerseybob: <M.D. Wilson: Stein's only win against Geller. 39. Bxd5 is a mistake. 34. Qb6 seems wasteful.> Black's under a great deal of pressure; what do you propose in place of the two moves you've criticized?
Dec-19-16  Albion 1959: The first time these two ever played each other, was a win for Stein. His only win against Geller ! After this Geller won six games to none against Stein !
Aug-08-17  zydeco: Geller was Stein's mentor, and a sort of informal coach.
Aug-08-17  ewan14: I read it was Geller and Stein that came up with the '' answer '' a5 etc to the Petrosian variation against the King's Indian Defence
Feb-17-20  sitr: It is not the first game between Stein and Geller, nor it is Stein's first (or only) win over Geller. The two have played at the Ukrainian championship in 1957, and Stein's win over Geller (with black!) at that tournament was actually his first win over a grandmaster. Unfortunately, there is no score of this game either in the book of Gufeld and Lazarev (who mention this win) or elsewhere.
