Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-01-06  Maynard5: This game features a rather remarkable sacrifice of the exchange by Geller. The idea of sacrificing the exchange to strip the king side of the black bound bishop has been seen in some other games. What is noteworthy here is that the resulting attack succeeds because white's knights are able to control the center, as well as create threats against the vulnerable square f6.
Mar-01-06  Jim Bartle: Another game with a great sacrifice by Geller—I assume there are many—was with white against Dreev in 1990. He sacrificed a bishop for two center pawns on move 10 and just kept up the pressure for a quick win.
Jan-01-18  Grandma Sturleigh: Geller gets outplayed by one the the tail-enders, and plays a desperation sacrifice.

With help from his opponent, he more than equalizes but finds the wrong plan on move 30. He should push his passed pawns but plays for an direct attack.

Black misses the winning move (35...e4) and goes down in flames.
