Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-11-10  M.D. Wilson: The Saemisch as it should be played.
Jan-11-10  mysql: It's no longer being played in the elite level. Maybe someone can resurrect it.
Jan-13-10  M.D. Wilson: Yes, I know. Maybe Aronian?
Jan-13-10  mysql: Unless this is refuted already.
Jan-14-10  M.D. Wilson: I don't think it's refuted, yet at least. I think it offers white excellent chances and is a very dynamic system.
Jan-14-10  acirce: The World Champion gave it his seal of approval not long ago. Anand vs Grischuk, 2009
Jan-14-10  M.D. Wilson: In the old days Anand would never have played it, but that's simply because he preferred 1. e4. Spassky's mastery of the Saemisch meant Fischer never seriously considered using it against him. I've always favoured it in blitz because it leads to interesting complications, especially when white castles queenside and it becomes a race of sorts, unless black wants to transfer his attention to the kingside.
