Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-05-05  Shams: I`ve been playing around with 9.g4 instead. 9...cxd4 looks forced and then:

i.)
10.Nxd4 dxe5
11.fxe5 Nxe5
12.gxh5 Qxd4!

ii.) but what if
10.Ne2

and now I need a real chessplayer to show me black`s continuation.

Oct-13-09  mack: <Shams>

I believe the trick lies in 9.g4 Nxf4; now 10.Bxf4 cxd4 and black is taking back on e5 next move with three pawns and a fairly decent position for the knight.

Oct-13-09  parisattack: <mack: <parisattack> I adore the books, as you may have guessed; I was the author of that review that <TommyC> links to below. Definitely agree that there's been a shocking Suttles-based chat of late. Let's sort that out tomorrow when I'm not about to pass out.>

I continue to await your new thoughts on Suttles and the Chess on the Edge trilogy.

I hope you did not, in fact, pass out. Or, if you did it was for a worthy cause - a bottle of Chateau Petrus '82 or such...

Mar-17-25  xjian77: From "Der beste Zug" by Hort & Jansa (1982).
57...Nb5? (57...Nc4?) 58.cb5 Kd6 59.Ne4 Kd5 60.Kf4! 1-0 (60...Kc4 61.Nd6 Kd5 62.Nc8 Kc5 63.Na7 +-)
