Jan-22-08  TheaN: White to play 54 would make a nice Tuesday. The race and win is well calculated.
Jan-22-08  TheaN: That makes me think if there's no draw for Black after the Rook exchange, but it seems that any Black King move in the move ranges 55-57 won't work. Ok, White won't Queen with check, but Black won't escape the tactics, either way.

57....Kd4 58.a8=Q g1=Q (Kxd3 59.Qh2) 59.Qb6+

game toppings :)

<Now black is sure of queening and then of a draw. Kozomara ordered loudly: "Two Queens, director!" But Ivkov answered ironically, "Yes, but one for not very long!" Kozomara immediately became anxious and looked doubtfully at Ivkov and the position.>

Sep-08-12  newzild: It's not surprising that Ivkov should consider this line to be promising for White. given that he lost on the Black side 10 years earlier (to Olafsson):

This is good but your "a8=Q" should be "b8=Q"...
