Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-05-08  Jim Bartle: I'm helpless in endings. But could somebody tell me if Kamsky isn't in effect insulting Beliavsky by playing on beyond move 58 or so?
Nov-05-08  Shams: kind of seems that way. who knows, he probably wanted to extend the game so as to postpone dealing with his father's inevitable post-loss harangue.
Nov-05-08  Jim Bartle: That occurred to me. He lost several really long games in this tournament. I think this is the tournament where afterward Kamsky (probably his father, really) accused Kasparov of trying to poison him.
Jun-11-18  Howard: Yes, in Inside Chess it was Kamsky who claimed that someone was allegedly poisoning his orange juice during the event.

  Sally Simpson: Hi Jim,

Not to keen on endgames as well but:

" But could somebody tell me if Kamsky isn't in effect insulting Beliavsky by playing on beyond move 58 or so?"

Beliavsky has the wrong Bishop for the Rooks Pawn. If Kamsky can get the Knight with the Bishop it's a draw.

From 67 to the end Beliavsky keeps his King on a light square so there is no chance of the Knight getting pinned or skewered.
