Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-17-05  Poisonpawns: gm 1 of the match after 12 moves of theory in the QGA I must say i hate these type of black positions. It is solid and if you get to an endgame great, but thats the trick there is always a catch.13..c5 seems to be automatic to me,black can use some room to operate.but after 14.Nb5 then Nc8 is pretty much forced a little uncomfortable but perhaps the way to go here.Whats funny about this game,is that Nigel plays an opening that subjects him to a passive type position then he tries to play actively when his pieces arent optimely placed.17...Rxd4? looks good but gets refuted as the passed d-pawn quickly decides the issue. The ending is fit for a puzzle.
Jan-18-07  pacelli: Short gets outplayed, outclassed and easily creamed by a far stronger opponent from an even position.
Jan-18-07  Shams: Kamsky was so good around this time.

The early ...Bb4 may have been theory then, but it's out of fashion. Unfortunately for QGA players, the 3...e5 lines have been struggling recently.

I've noticed that Short often likes blocking the c-pawn with his queen knight. He does that in the French sometimes, too. Here both his knights got out of play.
