Honza Cervenka: Karpov convincingly demonstrates the superiority of Bishop pair over two Knights. Ivanovic's 35...Rfg5 was a desperate attempt to stop threats 36.Be7 and 36.Ra8+. For example, 35...Nde8 36.Be7! leaves black practically motionless. White threatens to play Rd2 and Rd8#. If Rook on f5 moves to f7 then white can sac the Bishop on c5 with next b6, if black tries 35...Nde8 36.Be7 Rg7, then 37.Ra8+ Nxa8 38.Rxa8+ Kc7 39.Rxe8 wins both Knights for Rook with easily won position.

  FSR: Notably, Karpov did not fear 8...f5, winning a piece. Houdini 3 analyzes <9.Nf3 Qe7> (9...Qxb2 10.Nc3 Qa3 11.0-0 is even more odious for Black) <10.0-0 fxe4 11.Bxe4 Nf6> (11... Qc5 12. Re1 Be7 13. Qc2 Nf6 14. Bxh7 Rxh7 15. Re5 Qd6 16. c5 Qd7 17. Rae1 Kf8 18. Ng5 Rh6 19. Ne6+ ) <12. Bxh7 Nxh7 13. Re1 Be6 14. Nd4 Kf7 15. Nxe6 Na6 16. Nxg7 Qd6 17. Nf5 >.
Apr-12-23  tonsillolith: After <29. Be4>, the situation is looking quite difficult for Black. His pieces are cramped and clumsily stuck behind the pawn structure, whereas White's are perfectly situated to slice through all the open lines.

Karpov indeed demonstrates the superiority of bishops over knights here.
