Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-12-05  Averageguy: I do not see what feature of Kaspy's position caused his opponent to resign, but then agin I never do.
Sep-12-05  Anatooly Homedepotov: <Averageguy> I see Kaspy making an eventual breakthrough on the K-side with moves like Ng5 and Qh4 and the rook lift Rf3-h3. Maybe even a pawn sac by f5 somewhere. Still, I would have kept on playing as Black and make him work for it. Black's position is pretty badly cramped, too. A useless QB and the b file knight's out of action.
Mar-28-06  Karel: As I see it the queenside is blocked and black's white bishop is out of play putting a stop to black's play + white has a pretty good game on the kingside
Apr-30-07  actionhero56: black should not have resigned

Phony Benoni: Any time a player "resigns" before the opponent moves, something funny is going on. It can happen after a horrendous blunder to which the player does not want to see the reply, or a game not resumed after adjournment.

Obviously, neither is the case here. Instead, I suspect that the scoresheet is incomplete, either because the moves are unavailable or because a mistake in the preceding moves made the score unplayable. The latter seems at least possible; some of Kasparov's moves don't make a lot of sense to me.
