Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-24-11  swr: How about 19. Rxf3?

Also, 28. Nxg4 Nxg4 29. fxg4 f3 30. Bf1 f2+ 31. Kh1 and Black seems to be getting nowhere. Any thoughts?

Jun-24-11  SimonWebbsTiger: @swr

believe it or not, this game finally leaves theory with Ray's improvement 22...Nf8

The line you give was also suggested in Informator 20/723 by Marjanovic, who annotated this game.

Quite what the status of this line is is somewhat moot. Upon consulting ECO E (4th edition), there are no other references; this game is their footnote, with the assessment 25. Kh1

Jun-24-11  swr: <SimonWebbsTiger>
Thanks!
I'm still surprised not to find any games with 19. Rxf3. As far as I can tell that move pretty much kills Black's attack (...Nh4 doesn't look like it gives anything).
Jun-24-11  SimonWebbsTiger: why 19. gxf3 has been played?

John Nunn only gives 19. Bxf3 Rb8 unclear as an alternative in his book on the KID, whilst my silicon (Fritz 12) is quite happy with Black after 19. Rxf3 Nxe4 20. Nxa8 Bf5=
