Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-21-05  Helloween: I believe White resigned because 13.Qg7 is met by 13...Kd7 when everything is covered and the Black King finds shelter on the closed Queenside. After the Bishop on c4 retreats, Black will soon be up a few pawns and the semi-exposed White King himself will come under heavy fire.

An awfully short correspondence game. Are there any shorter?

Feb-22-05  RisingChamp: It really makes you wonder when anyone loses a correspondence game in 13 moves.Even more so when the opponent is a billionaire.12 Qh6 is completely beyond my comprehension.Surely exd6 is much better ,when he can answer the pretty much forced qd7 with Qe3+ avoiding a loss of material, and to me(though I havent studied it in detail, white looks better)
Feb-22-05  Helloween: <RisingChamp>If 12.exd6 e.p. Qd7??, White has a mate in 5 with 13.Qe5+ Qe6 14.Qxh8+ Kd7 15.Bxe6+ fxe6 16.Qxh7+ Kd8 17.Qe7#

Instead, Black should respond to 12.exd6 e.p. with 12...0-0!, e.g. 13.Rd1 bxc4 14.d7 Nxd7 15.Bxf8 Nxf8 with a crushing position.

Sep-24-05  aw1988: My shortest corr. game ever was six moves. And that was when my opponent was too busy to play any more. To legitimally lose in this many moves is absolutely pathetic.
Sep-24-05  iron maiden: <Helloween> Here's an even quicker correspondence loss by Paul Keres, of all people. Keres vs G Menke, 1933.
