Oct-05-04  notyetagm: Damn, Anand is strong. The position on the board after Black's 29th move was today's puzzle in Ray Keene's Winning Move column. The full combination is a <decoy> of the Black king (27 ♖xe7! ♖xe7 28 ♖xe7 ♔xe7) into a <discovered attack> (29 ♘d5+ ♔e6)that results in either losing the Black queen to <removal of the guard> (30 ♘c7+! ♔d7 31 ♕xf5+) or <mate> (30 ♘c7+! ♔e5 31 ♕d5#). A very nice combo by Anand.
Jan-19-05  sheaf: chessgames.com this is a checkmate.
May-20-05  jondoe: Check mate!
Nov-18-05  notyetagm: 27 ♖xe7! ♖xe7 28 ♖xe7+ ♔xe7 29 ♘d5+ a <decoy> into a <discovered attack with check>. Later tonight I will post another example of this tactical theme that I saw last night on ICC in 1 0 match between Smallville and Banjovi. Yes, Banjovi saw this similar tactical idea in a 1 0 game!
Nov-18-05  Queens Gambit: Very nice game.
Nov-19-05  notyetagm: As promised, another example of the theme <decoy to create a disocvered attack with check>. First I will post the FEN of the position before the tactic, give the solution, and then post the PGN of the game. Remember, this combination is from an ICC 1 0 game!
