Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-13-15  cunctatorg: Starting from move 32 and lasting until move 76 and more, an epic, didactic and even breathtaking and beautiful good B (+6 pawns) vs. bad Bishop (+6 pawns) endgame is taking place!!
Jun-14-15  sfm: 56.-,h4 seems to be a mistake, creating another break-in square for the white king. Otherwise it is hard to see how Black could lose.

Plaskett: I must agree with sfm that, without 56...h5-h4 I see no obvious way in. Somehow it echoes the move of Karpov´s in a minor piece ending from a game of his 1984 match with Kasparov of Ng2!!, saccing a pawn to engineer an entry point for his king. That was described by Timman as possibly "the strongest ever played in a World Championship match". The subsequent invasion after 56...h4 even has lines where white´s playing Kh8! leads to zugzwang. And, btw, re Miles´ Ba8 in this game ; the following year he won Tilburg and drew a bishop ending with white Vs Hubner. But a critical variation he gave also had white playing Ba8! and leading to a zugzwang thereby.

(Larsen told me that he had a tremendous row with his lady, subsequently his wife, during the adjournment.)
