White to play. Should he hassle the Knight or the enemy King?

Mason went after the Black King with 51 Ke5 and was rewarded by Reggio's reply 51..Nc5. Instead, Black has an incredible resource: 51..Nc3!! 52 b6 Na4 53 b7 (53 Nc4 Nxb6! =) 53..Nc5 54 b8=N (54 b8=Q Nd7+ =) 54..Nd3+ =

Correct was 51 Kc4! Kf4 52 Nd5+ Kf3 53 Kb4 +-

The drama, however, was not yet over.

Fearing possible Knight checks, Mason put his King on what he thought was a safer square with 54 Ke6 Reggio countered with 54..Na4 and now after 55 Ke5 Black has a similar drawing idea as above with 55..Nc3! 56 b6 Na4 57 b7 Nc5 =

Instead 54 Ne3 brings home the point: 54..Na4 (54..Kf4 55 Nd5+) 55 Nd5 Kh4 56 Kc6 g4 57 fxg3+ Kxg3 58 Nc3 +-

An endgame gem.
