Jul-18-03  Tigran Petrosian: Blacks kingside attack is very fierce.
Jan-15-09  Xeroxx: thats a correct observation.
Jan-15-09  A.G. Argent: Spot on observing,<Xeroxx>. Also relentless. My kind of chess. But after the questionable 11.Nxg5 hxg5, opening up the h-file, Sax pretty much opened the door by making the even more questionable move of castling smack dab into that open file vulnerability, didn't he, and Portisch jumped on it pronto. Fiercely.

Fusilli: 13...Kf8!?! A grandmaster move! The computer reckons it's the best move. I suppose it's the safest square for the king, where it protects the g7. Going for the long castle (regardless of whether that would have been a good strategic idea) would have required Qe7, but that would take the square where the knight on c6 is supposed to retreat.

Forceful play by Portisch.
