Kibitzer's Corner
Oct-27-06  ARubinstein: FIVE rook pawns for Black?!?!! This has to be some kind of record!

Interesting side note: Rogers seems to be a specialist in positions where one side has tripled rook pawns: see I Rogers vs Beliavsky, 1996 !

Oct-27-06  kevin86: Mississippi Valley State used to have a formation where two receivers lined up in an "I" while the other three receivers also lined up in the "I" on the other side of the field.

Black's pawns appear this way after move 40----

The greatest of MVS receivers was Jerry Rice, the greatest receiver in NFL history with San Francisco.

May-20-09  WhiteRook48: he just wanted to show he could play with the letters of his name and still draw!

Phony Benoni: White's just lucky it wasn't a knight endgame.

This would have been perfect for Bent Larsen's book (announced by RHM Press in advertisements in Chess Life & Review, but alas never published) "The Strategic and Tactical Significance of the Rook Pawns."
