Sep-09-04  Whitehat1963: Games like this give one hope.
Nov-17-04  mack: Oops! 19...Qf8 20.Bxh7+
Nov-17-04  Dudley: I have an early book of Schiller's on the Blackmar-Diemer that I used to think was useful and rather entertaining but finally noticed that it had very little substantial analysis and was next to useless.
Nov-17-04  WMD: Do I sense just a smidgeon of anti-Schiller sentiment? Eric should follow Ray Keene's example and frequent his own page.

tpstar: I agree - in fact, all titled players who visit regularly should frequent their own page.

Suicidal play by Black.

Eric Schiller: Well, if ...Bxf6, he just takes the knight at g6 and my kingside is toast. I already was in a poor position. I have posted, just took me a while to find my way here. Ray Keene told me about the site. I don't think my FIDE rating was ever quite that low, normally in the 2200s.

Joshka: <Eric Schiller> Welcome to chessgames! How wonderful to have another master and author contributing! I for one have enjoyed your books over the years especially the book "Gambit Openings for White" I believe is the title? Have scored many points with these obscure openings. I probably own another 6 or 7 books and have always remembered them to be very enjoyable to go thru. Again a hearty welcome:-)
Apr-01-05  Dick Brain: <delterp and tpstar> 13 ...Bxf6 looks bad because of 14. Ng5: how do you defend h7?
Apr-01-05  sneaky pete: <Dick Brain> In this position don't think of defence, think of (counter)attack. 13... Bxf6 14.Ng5 Bxd4 is messy (15.Nxh7 Kxh7 16.h5 Bxe3; 15.h5 Bxe3; 15.Bxd4 Qxd4), so at least in practical play black has counterchances. 14.Bxg6 hxg6 15.Qd3 .. as <Eric Schiller> indicates seems better.
Apr-01-05  Dick Brain: <sneaky pete> dont forget 14 Ng5 Bxd4 15. Qh5
Apr-01-05  sneaky pete: <Dick Brain> You're right, I did forget to look at the direct approach! A stroke of chess blindness. So 14... Bxd4 is worthless, but as other moves (.. Bxg5 14.hxg5 .. 15.Qh5 ..; .. h6 14.Bxg6 ..; .. Nxd4 14.Qh5 ..) are hardly better black seems completely lost already in your line. Shows who's the brain around here.
