Kibitzer's Corner
Jul-18-09  birthtimes: 13. Na4 Bd8 14. O-O-O is stronger for White.
Jul-18-09  birthtimes: 14. Bb6 is a stronger move for White than the defensive-minded Kb1. Interesting how even strong GM's make "automatic" moves even when the position does not require them. Shirov immediately grabs the initiative with his 14th move, thereby making Jiangchuan pay dearly for his lackadaisical and overly-cautious King move.
Jul-18-09  birthtimes: White's 21st and 22nd moves led quickly to his defeat. Better would have been 21. Nxe4 Rxe4 22. Qf3
Feb-24-11  wordfunph: Shirov quoted after the game..

"It's not a bad feeling to beat the first board of the team representing a nation of 1.2 billion people, is it?"
