Oct-18-09  ozmikey: Crazy game. Did Black miss a much quicker win with 29...Rxc5? After 30. Rxa5 Rxc3 31. Bxb5 Kc7! (rather than 31...axb5 32. Rd8+ Rc8 33. Rxc8+ Kxc8 34. Ra8+) 32. Rd3 Rc5, I can't see how White can avoid losing a piece.

nizmo11: <ozmikey>: You are correct, the variation with 29...Rxc5 would have won.
In the game continuation White could have inserted 34. Rac8+, preventing Black activating his King. Earlier in the game Vasuikov was better but then lost the thread.

nizmo11: Incidentally, was just reading Mikhail Marin's "Old Wine in New Bottles" where he has chapter "b4-pawn a brave foot soldier."
Here 24. b4 was maybe brave but also foolhardy.
