Kibitzer's Corner
Feb-19-04  ughaibu: Any ideas why black didn't take the e-pawn on move 13?
Feb-19-04  aulero: I think 13...Qxe2 14.Nf3 (idea 15.Rae1) Qe4 15.Nf4 and I see no good defense against 15.Rae1.
Feb-19-04  ughaibu: Aulero: Thanks. How about meeting Nf4 with e5? Black can answer 16.Ne5 with Nd4 or 16.Rae1 with f4 17.Re4 e4 18.N(?) f3 etc.
Feb-19-04  aulero: I can figure out why after 15... e5 16.Rae1 or 16.Rfe1 is not appealing.

In order to avoid complication White can be satidfied with 16.dxe5 dxe5 17.Nxe5 Nd4 18.Bxd4 Qxd4 19.Neg6+ hxg6 20.Nxg6+ Kh7 21.Nxe7

Feb-19-04  ughaibu: Yes, that looks okay a pawn up though after Be6 black might get some play. How about h3 instead of Nf4 in your original line?
Feb-19-04  aulero: 15.h3 was the first move I saw, but I did not like 15...f4: I was analyzing on the diagram only and strangely enough I did not see 16.Nxf4 !!!! So I came back one move and I reconsidered the position. When I found 15.Nf4 I did not think that it was possible to play it also in the previous variant.

15.h3 seems stronger than 15.Nf4

Feb-19-04  ughaibu: I think you're right, it looks like black will have to give back the pawn and isn't very comfortable.
