Nov-12-13  zydeco: Smyslov and Tal were playing the same opening this round. They deviated on move 15: Smyslov playing more positionally with 15.h4, Tal trying to force matters with 15.fxg5 hxg5 16.h4

19.Nd5 looks like a really good option for white: if 19....exd5 20.g5+. If 19....Nxd5 20.exd5 Bxd5 21.Rxd5 exd5 22.Qf5+. Maybe Smyslov didn't like 19....Bxd5 20.exd5 e5 and if 21.g5+ then 21....Nd7 and if 21.Qf5+ then 21....Qd7 and white can't get at either f7 or d6.

Black's much better at the end of the game, but Benko was apparently in terrible time trouble. Benko started the tournament well; he probably felt he had no reason to take risks. 28....Qxa3+ 29.Kb1 Rg3 looks good with the idea of ....Rc3-c4
