Aug-29-11  Ulhumbrus: An alternative to 9...Nde5 is 9...Qc7 supporting the manoeuvre 10...Nc6-e5-c4

An alternative to 10...Nxd4 is 10...Na5 threatening potentially 11...Na5-c4

wwall: Matanovic gives 25...Rxc3+ an exclam (!), but better seems 25...f5 26.exf5 exf5, threatening 27...f4. If 27.Nd5+, then 27...Kf7 28.Kd2 Bxa4 and Black's position looks better with connected pawns.

After 27.Rb1, Spassky had to avoid 27...Rxe4? 28.Kxe4 Bxc2+ 29.Bd3! Bxb1 30.Bxb1, and White should win.

Sep-17-14  technical draw: I saw this game live plus a couple of the other quarter -finals.
