Kibitzer's Corner
Jun-19-06  madness: So why did White resign? I mean, Black's looking good, but...Harper's 'perhaps how they do it in postal' isn't too persuasive.
Jun-19-06  mack: The threat of ...Ng3# is overwhelming:

22.Qf2 (or Rf2) Bxd4;

22.Bf2 Ng3+ 23.Bxg3 Qxg3;

22.Nde2 Ng3+ 23.Ng3 Qxg3;

22.Nce2 (White's best bet) Qg4

Jun-21-06  madness: <mack>The threat of ...Ng3# is overwhelming: 22.Qf2 (or Rf2) Bxd4;

Uh, actually 22...Ng3# would be a better reply to 22. Rf2.

22.Bf2 Ng3+ 23.Bxg3 Qxg3;

Fair enough, though I'm not sure this is resignable. 22. Bf2 is pretty ridiculous, unguarding h2 and all.

22.Nde2 Ng3+ 23.Ng3 Qxg3;

But this is just wrong; 24. Nxe4 wins for White.

22.Nce2 (White's best bet) Qg4

Again, this looks good for Black, but I wouldn't resign the other side of it.

Jun-21-06  mack: madness - I had a look at this game at about a million o'clock in the morning, so most of it's probably wrong - I'll have a proper look in a while.
May-28-23  RDGPlaysChess: When the match ended, Nikkanen's castle keeps the king from moving and also protects the king. Suttles' got severly destroyed!
