  manselton: Brilliant bit of defence by Szabo. A clean pawn down with a Knight and Rook vs Bishop and Rook he tempts White to get 2 connected passed pawns on the Q-side so that he can attack with KRN+P on the other side of the board. And draws! What a conception.

White ought to have retreated admitted his mistake and retreated 36.Ke4-f3 because he needs to suppress Black's counterplay. This was the year Balashov won his GM title and this was a quite a lesson for him, I reckon.
