Kibitzer's Corner
Aug-21-05  acirce: The famous 14..g5!?! 15.Bg3 g4 seems quite eccentric but may very well be the best. 16.Ne5 would have kept White's advantage.
Jan-01-06  aw1988: <acirce> Presumably after exchanges on g5, ...d4 follows?
Mar-16-06  zev22407: Taimanov starts with a dangerous attack with 20)h3 21)B-e5 and N-e4 but the briliant 23)...B-g4!! stops white's attack and Larsen has the counter attack with 25)..Q-d2.
Dec-22-07  Resignation Trap: 23...Bg4!! is THE move. If instead 23...Kf7 24.Ng5+ Ke7 25.Qxe5! and Black is in serious trouble despite being a Rook ahead.
Mar-06-09  WeakSquare: This is actually Queen's Gambit with Bf4, after 8...d5.
Jun-29-14  RookFile: Wow, what a great game. First time I've seen this one!

FSR: What an insane game. Hell bent indeed.
Jun-29-14  sushijunkie: Wild game!
Jun-29-14  farshids: ok 23...Bg4 is useful because it causes separation between the white Queen and King!
Jun-29-14  Wyatt Gwyon: Wow. Can't believe I haven't seen this one before. I need to play through more of Larsen's games.

Domdaniel: Don't think I'd seen this either. Interesting stuff. Did White *have* to give up the Exchange like that? Did he have compensation?
Jun-29-14  Granny O Doul: I believe it was Vaganian who said this game inspired him to play weird ...g5 moves of his own.
Jun-29-14  Wyatt Gwyon: I'm going to incorporate "weird...g5 moves" into all my games from here on out.
Jun-29-14  Rookiepawn: 23 ... Bg4 is what drives me nuts.
Jun-30-14  kevin86: Both sides have far-advanced pawns, but black wins.
Oct-09-15  jerseybob: Kudos to both players. Annotators might call white's attack "unsound", whatever that means, but if Larsen hadn't found the defensive moves, he would've been toast. This reminds me of the type of attack Taimanov launched against Fischer in games 1 and 3 of their 1971 Candidates Match, when Bobby, just like Larsen here, was pushed to the brink of defeat.
