  Retireborn: A game with a very odd finish. Beliavsky misses a win with 27.Qd4 or 27.Bh6. Then Taimanov blunders with 32...Rf8 (the sacrifice 32...Rb2 was necessary), but instead of taking the piece with 33.Bxf6 two more lemons follow and a draw is agreed, even though White can now win with 34.Rc7.

It would be charitable to assume both players were in raging time trouble.

The position after 10...Na7! looks quite reasonable for Black, but Taimanov's idiosyncratic handling of the Nimzo seems not to have garnered any followers.

Aug-04-17  Howard: Still remember Tal and Beliavsky getting their pictures on the cover of CL&R in April, 1975 for their co-winning the tournament.
