Dec-06-06  Dark Horse: Why TAl moves 30. b4
Dec-06-06  HLecter: obviously to avoid 30. Ra5 which forces white to retreat the Queen followed by Raf5, leaving white with a pawn for a piece. b4 is essential to keep the pins force. next comes Rf1
May-17-24  Ziryab: 13...b6 was recommended in <Life and Games of Mikhail Tal> (1997). Tal's instructive analysis there is extended slightly by Paata Gaprindashvili, <Critical Moments in Chess> (2010).

Tal planned to sacrifice his queen after 13...b5. 14.dxc5 Bb7 15.c6 Nxe5 16.fxe5 Bxc6 17.exf6 Bxf3 18.fxg7 Rfd8 19.gxf3 with three minor pieces for the queen.
