An Englishman: Good Evening: Let's give Palmason the proper respect--he was the only player at Reykjavik 1964 who did not lose to Tal. Tal probably should won the game by move 26, but instead chose a line that allowed White to set a nasty little trap to salvage his position. If 26...Qxa2; 27.Rb8+,Kg7; 28.Ne6+! leads to checkmate.
Feb-17-17  ughaibu: But how should Tal have won?
Jun-18-17  whiteshark: Tal's winning streak [6/6] was briefly halted by Palmason, who played solidly.
Jun-18-17  whiteshark: <ughaibu: But how should Tal have won?> Good question!

Furthermore Fritz suggests <28.Qa8+ Kg7 29.Kh3 >

and it's black who needs some witchcraft to save the game...

Aug-02-17  cunctatorg: Had Gudmundur Palmason played 28. Qa8! Kg7 29. Kh3 (with a clear advantage for White), most probably Mikhail Tal would have won this game too...

Nope!! The modest and solid move 28. Qe2 (!?!) was the right (and wisest) decision!!
