Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-03-07  Maynard5: This game is an interesting example of Black's counterattacking opportunities in the Tarrasch French. White's decision to castle queenside looks to have been the key mistake. Judging by the outcome, the thematic policy of castling kindside and playing against the isolated d-pawn is preferable. Over the next ten moves, Black is able to utilize the a-pawn and half-open c-file to create threats against White's king. Eventually, this culminates in White's pieces becoming overburdened. All in all, good play by Uhlmann, who has been one of the leading experts in the French defense.
Dec-30-08  hitsujyun: It's written "Albena 1983" in the book WINNING WITH THE FRENCH.
