plang: Perhaps 8..e6 is playable - Black needs improvements in this variation. A cute variation would have been 9 e6..Bxf3? 10 exd+..Kf8 11 Qxf3..cxd 12 Bf2..dxc 13 Bb6 and wins. 9 Be4 was new; 9 Ng5 had been played previously. Black was already clearly worse after 12..Nh6; Adams recommended 12..Nf8 (this move has been played in several subsequent games) 13 Nc5..Nh6 14 e6..Bxd4 15 Qxd4..Qxd4 16 exf+..Nxf7 17 Nd4 though Black is hurting here as well. 22..Ra7? lost at once; necessary was 22..Nh5 23 Rd1..Qxe6 24 Nxe6..Rfc8 25 Nxg7..Nxg7 26 Rd7 and White would still have work to do to get the win. Black resigned due to 23..Qb8 24 Qxb8..Rxb8 25 Ne5+ and 26 Nc6.
