plang: 13 Bxc5 is a rarely played sideline. 15 f5!? had been played in A.Ivanov-Glek Frunze 1987 and Black had gone on to win. 15 a3!? seems both slow and weakening but Apicella had played it a few times before (games not included in this database); Gurevixh's 15..Bd7 was a new response. 22 axb..axb 23 Ne2..Ne4 would have been powerful for Black. 23..bxc 24 Qg5..Ne6! would also have been winning for Black. White resigned due to 29 Kb1..Rxb2+ 30 Kxb2..Rb8+ with mate to follow.
