An Englishman: Good Evening: Ah, the good old Archangelsk Variation, an opening almost guaranteed to end in homicide. Good choice for a must-win-with-Black game, as long as you remember to study it carefully before wandering into the firefight.
Aug-27-22  lentil: Note that Sergei was 11 years old here! When I was 11 my rating would have been negative.

Teyss: Good pun, the kraken released its tentacles all over the board.

A crazy variation, named so because a few Soviet players originating form Arkhangelsk city occasionally played it. With temperatures sometimes dropping down to -40 Celsius in winter, it's understandable they needed action to keep warm.

Only game in the database with 10.Ng5. Surprising because as noted by <mack> and <Honza Cervenka> White has some opportunities.

Aug-27-22  Saniyat24: A funny pun, but a very interesting game...at first I thought Karjakin was losing...!
