May-01-11  wordfunph: spectacular game by IM Pap with king-side attack 15.f6!, 19.Rxf6! and finally the artistic 22.Rxh7+!

fredthebear: Indeed!! A must for the h-file assault / combination collections.
Feb-08-23  Brenin: I had the simple 21 Rxb7 Qxb7 22 Nxf6 gxf6 23 Bxg8 Rxg8 24 Qe2, reducing the tension and leaving White with B for P and an easy win.
Feb-08-23  King.Arthur.Brazil: I didn't find a forced line, but this possibility: 21. Nxf6 gxf6 22. Rxh7+ Kxh7 23. Qh5+ Kg7 24. Qh6#. If black refuses to take the ♘, for example: 21... Raf8 22. Qxg7+ Rxg7 23. Rxf8+ Rg8 24. Rxg8#. Other possibility 21... Bc8 22. Qh5 h6 23. Qxh6+ gxh6 24. Rh7#. This move must follow other answers too.
Feb-08-23  outplayer: I have thought about Nf6 but couldn't see 22.Rh7.
Feb-08-23  thegoodanarchist: Happy, Papi?
Feb-08-23  mel gibson: That wasn't too hard today.

Stockfish 15 says:

score for White +13.64 depth 37.

Feb-08-23  Mayankk: White is up a minor piece and has its Rook, Knight, Bishop and Queen, all ganged up on a hapless Black King. The Black King is entombed within its own pieces and waiting for the guillotine to fall.

The puzzle itself has little value as likely any move will win. However from an aesthetic perspective we can find a beautiful double sacrifice as 21 Nxf6 gxf6 22 Rxh7+ Kxh7 23 Qh5+ Kg7 24 Bh6+ Kh8/Kh7 25 Bf8# The moves are mostly forced and reasonable side-lines.

Feb-08-23  Dr. Funkenstein: What happens after 21. Nxf6 Bxg2+ 22. Kxg2 (or Qxg2 taking the Q away from the mating squares) ? Is white just up too much material or the king hides on h3?
Feb-08-23  Mayankk: Hi <Funkenstein>,

After 21 Nxf6 Bxg2+ 22 Qxg2 gxf6 23 Rxh2+ still works.

E.g. 23 Rxh2+ Kxh2 24 Qh3+ Kg6 25 Bxg8 Rxg8 26 Be3, White is up a Bishop and should win.

  Willber G: <Mayankk: 24 Bh6+ Kh8/Kh7 25 Bf8#>

24 Qh6# is quicker.

Feb-08-23  agb2002: White has a bishop for a pawn.

Black threatens Nxg4.

White can attack the black king with five pieces, starting with 21.Nxf6:

A) 21... gxf6 22.Rxh7+ Kxh7 23.Qh5+ Kg7 24.Qh6#.

B) 21... Bxg2+ 22.Qxg2 gxf6 23.Rxh7+ Kxh7 24.Qh3+ Kg6 (24... Kg7 25.Qh6#) 25.Qg4+ Kh7 26.Qh5+ Kg7 27.Qh6#.

C) 21... Qf2 22.Bh6

C.1) 22... gxh6 23.Rxh7#.

C.2) 22... gxf6 23.Bg7+ Rxg7 24.Qxg7#.

C.3) 22... B(Q)xg2+ 23.Qxg2 Q(B)xg2+ 24.Kxg2 gxf6+ (24... gxh6+ 25.Nxg8) 25.Kf2 + - [2B vs 2p].

D) 21... Raf8 22.Qxg7+ Rxg7 23.Rxf8+ Rg8 24.Rxg8#.

Feb-08-23  saturn2: Opening the g gile is double edged because of Bg2 mate. But white makes only forced moves so it works.

  FSR: It's a Pap Smear after 21.Nxf6 gxf6 22.Rh7+ Kxh7 23.Qh5+ Kg7 24.Qh6#.
Feb-08-23  stacase: Once you notice White's Bishop sitting back there on A2 ...

Surely such a pun has been submitted and rejected. No wait, it was accepted: G A Kosanovic vs M Pap, 2001 Too bad CG doesn't show the pun submitter, to see who won the elegancy price on Feb 12, 2021.

Feb-08-23  TheaN: Oof Black's not doing too well here really. Would reckon a lot wins given White's a piece up and Black's locked in. However, <21.Nxf6> ends it there and then, as the reasonable answer fails to <21....gxf6 22.Rxh7+! Kxh7 23.Qh5+ Kg7 24.Qh6#> (initially I had Bh6+ as that's the usual pattern, but the bishop cuts the king off from f7)
