Kibitzer's Corner
Mar-20-05  get Reti: WOW! This is pretty long for a morphy game.
Mar-20-05  Sydro: Morphy could have played 39.Re5 and black has no defense from back rank mate.
Nov-30-08  patzer of patzers: I like the way 31. Qg4+ Kh8 32. Qf4 Kg7 gains initiative for white, though I'm not sure whether Qf4 was the intended result or not. It looked good to me, allowing h6+, and, as <Sydro> said, could've helped mate on move 39!
Nov-30-08  patzer of patzers: "led to" would fit better than "helped"
Jan-29-09  WhiteRook48: wow, interesting thing about that. Morphy missed a quicker mate!
Feb-04-09  heuristic: 11...0-0 12.Nxd7 Qxd7 13.Bxf6 Bxf6 14.Qxe4 is better

13...Bxc4 14.bxc4 Qb4 15.d5 Nxe5 16.fxe5 is better

37...Rb4 loses(?)
37...c5 38.Rxf5 cxd4 39.Rxf7 c5 40.Rf5 and it is about equal
