Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-27-04  blueridgeboy07: perhaps i am missing something obvious, but after 1.Nf3, d5 2.c4, d4 3.b4, f6 4.e3, e5 5.Bb2, dxe3 6.fxe3, Bxb4 7.c5 why is the bishop not able to take the pawn?
Jan-28-04  Resignation Trap: This line is similar to the Sokolsky Gambit: 1.b4 e5 2. Bb2 f6 3. e4 Bxb4 4. Bc4.

In the Vaganian-Mikenas game, Black CAN try 7...Bxc5, but after 8. Bc4 his King will have a tough time finding a safe haven on the board. Those who have supreme confidence in their ability to defend might try 7...Bc5, the rest of us should try development instead.

Jan-29-04  blueridgeboy07: also if after 7 ...Bxc5 then 8 Nxe5, fxe5 9 Qh5+ may eventually be trouble for black, id like to hear what others think though.

  Honza Cervenka: If 51...e2, then 52.Nf3 g4 53.Kxd3 gxf3 54.Kd2 Kc8 55.Ra4
