Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-26-07  Themofro: A nice game no doubt, but i disagree with the placing of the white knights in the opening, in the queenside fianchetto lines the knight usually is developed to d2 after playing d3, without blocking the bishop. Nh3 is wrong though, period in my opinion, it avoids blocking the bishop, yes, but in the bird's the knight almost always goes there. The knight at f3 is so strong that very often black will trade off his white square bishop just to get rid of the knight. Without the knight at f3 black then aims to hit at whites pawn structure with e5 typically, in this game with the queen bishop wrongfully blocked, white absoltley needed to put the knight on f3. Black should have played an earlier e5, to acheive a pawn duo at e5+f5 earlier, in the Bird's this is often very strong for white, so if black is acheived to get this setup then white has played wrong.

The rook for 3 pawns sac at the end however is brilliant.
