Here White learns this the hard way with 14 0-0??, running into the <removal of the guard> tactic with 14 ... dxe4!. The point is that 15 ♗xe4? <deflects the d3-bishop from defending the e2 forking square> and runs into 15 ... ♘e2+ and 16 ... ♘x♕. So White can try 15 ♗c4, keeping his defending bishop in contact with the e2 forking square, but that simply loses to 15 ... px♘. So White resigned.
