Nov-20-04  Jaymthegenius: Wheres the win for black!!!!! I personally think Greco LOST this game! There is no win for black!!!
Nov-20-04  crafty: 16. ♕d3 d6 17. exd6 ♗xd6 18. ♘g5 g6   (eval -3.56; depth 13 ply; 500M nodes)
Dec-22-04  Jaymthegenius: Wow! I never even saw that! It would appear as if white was better, as his pieces are better developed, and has a queen vs. good rook and bad rook
Jan-27-05  mirunik: why ??????
Jan-28-05  Jaymthegenius: White has development with queen, black lacks development without a queen. Especially since 16.Bxf7+,Kf8 17.Bxe8
Jan-28-05  Jaymthegenius: Oh, ...Nxf7, almost forgot.
Jan-28-05  InspiredByMorphy: <Jaymethegenius> Black has two rooks to whites queen and both have 3 minor pieces. However one huge difference is that black is up 3 pawns! Not to mention there are no positional weaknesses for black. White has no attack.

Greco was amazing, and way ahead of his time. I'll bet his wealthy patrons were blown away by this Queen sacrifice idea, although White had Bxf7+ at several opportunities. If only they had 24-ply linear analysis back in the day. ;>D

The same player was probably White for NN vs Greco, 1620 which continued 10. Bxd8 Nxd1 11. Rxd1 dxc3+ and Black won another miniature.

Jun-05-14  rossvassilev: 16.Bxf7+ Kf8 17.Bxe8 Kxe8 18.Qg8+. Then White just has to bring one or both Knights over and it seems an easy mate for NN to me.

There's 16...Nxf7. If something like 17.Ng5 were to occur, 17...Re7 or 17...Rf8 followed by 18...h6 seem good to me.
