May-03-04  kak: exactly what in the name of all that is miraculous is sasikiran trying to do?
May-03-04  sumitro: I am pretty sure he was on drugs!

Benzol: Looks like Sasikiran overlooked 20...♗xc4.
May-03-04  suenteus po 147: <Benzol> I agree. Sasikiran was hoping for 20...Bxd1. I think 21.Rxh7+ was a spite check to indicate to the gods and others the genius of his plan that Short didn't follow...because he's a jerk. The jerk.
May-03-04  suenteus po 147: Actually, that's unfair. Short is not a jerk. I just sympathize with Sasikiran's situation. I have a hundred games that end with a spite check of my own, snubbing my nose at the jerk opponents I had who were too interested in "winning the game" to let my genius plan prevail. I bet Short is a gentleman and scholar in person, so I take back my unfair comment.
May-03-04  Benjamin Lau: His interviews shows that he is indeed scholarly (or at least sounds a whole lot like it), but your remark that he is a jerk may not be far off... Read the Short page for details.
May-04-04  Jim Bartle: Call a guy a jerk just for sleeping with another player's girlfriend, then boasting about it....in the other player's obituary?

Dionysius1: What's going on here? Game ends after 6 moves yet kibitzers are referring to a strange 20...
Nov-08-20  Granny O Doul: I see 14 moves ahead--the best 14 moves.

plang: In Sakaev-Beliavsky Belgrade 1999 (European Club Championship) (game not included in this database) Black had played 14..Qc7; 14..Kh8 was new. White's position still would have been playable after 18 h6.
