  tpstar: 10. Bc2 is rare in the Ruy Lopez Open and should transpose after 10 ... 0-0 11. Nbd2 Bf5. If 11. Qe2 Black sacrifices a Pawn with 11 ... f5!? 12. ef Qxf6 (12 ... Nxf6?? 13. Qxe6+) and if 13. Bxe4 dxe4 14. Qxe4 Bf5 (so the Queen covers the Nc6) & 14 ... Rae8 with open lines for the Pawn. Note 16. Qxc6 Rxf2! 17. Rxf2 Qc1+ mates, or 17. Qxa8+ Rf8+ wins the Q for R&B. The finish would be 26. Re1 Qg5 27. g3 Qh5 and White is toasted.

If 11. Bf4!? then 11 ... f5 looks good. The Ne4 must be reinforced, or else create an escape square with ... Bb6 to allow ... Nc5. If 12. ef Nxf6 since the Pc7 is loose.
