Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-17-09  A.G. Argent: GOD!!!! What crap! If there really are some sort of oddball, obscure machinations, rationalisations, whatever, to agreeing to draw this early, serving some ill defined purpose or end, tournament manouvering- point-wise or what the eff ever, well; A. I don't care to hear it and B; it should be made fully understood, and then made illegal. And then how about banning the perpetrators from further FIDE competion? It's a cop out, an aberration and a blot on the game. In other words, it sucks.

Phony Benoni: Well, if you don't like the game, perhaps you should be grateful they finished so quickly.
Jan-17-09  A.G. Argent: Ok, Phony, forgive my over-reaction; I admit to often being prone to it. But you must admit, these draws do sometimes rankle.

Phony Benoni: Yes, they do rankle sometimes. And you have to wonder why a person who plays nothing but games like this is even bothering.

But I've been there. I've taken or given quick draws due to apathy, or fatigue, or pity, or just not being in the mood. If I can justify doing this myself, how can I question the motives of others?

There are more beautiful and hard-fought games than can be appreciated in a full lifetime. Why waste time grousing about games like this?

Jan-17-09  A.G. Argent: Absolutely right, life is far too short. Consider me an ex-grouser on the matter.
